The MRB assigns working groups to assist in the development of tasks according to specialties in aircraft systems and structures. The working groups use an industry standard methodology of task development called Maintenance Steering Group, or MSG. Just as aircraft design philosophies have evolved, so has the methodology evolved for developing maintenance requirements for those new aircraft designs. Each major change in methodology is identified to the industry by the letters “MSG” followed by a number indicating the generational change. Most transport category aircraft in use today are using maintenance tasks derived from MSG-2 or MSG-3 philosophy. |
